Mirror Out

May 2026

What comes to mind when you look in the mirror? Desz Office explores the complex meanings surrounding space—specifically the interplay between 2D and 3D dimensions—within our society, and investigates how we might gain a deeper understanding of our own perception of space and environment.

Desz Office has designed an illusory mirror that blurs the boundaries between the two-dimensional and the three-dimensional. The mirror's surface appears to extend outward from a 3D space; the circular structural elements that define this 3D volume interact with the mirror to create a compelling optical illusion. Furthermore, the mirror's surface is finished with a gradient effect, which serves to further enhance the visual depth and the sense of realism within the perceived 3D space.

Measuring 40*60cm the mirror is distinguished by its ingeniously crafted components—elements simulating a 3D space—arranged in a circular configuration. This design creates the impression that the mirror has been extracted directly from a three-dimensional realm and is suspended in mid-air. The core design philosophy centers on interactivity and the visual transformation between 2D and 3D dimensions.
